When a team posts it Winter Roster in November does a player on the restricted list need to be added ? If so, I think we have seen the end of Kang. I cannot see the Pirates adding him to the roster and holding down a spot when they are not sure if he would get a work visa for the 2018 season. I think Kang is not even a blip on the Bucs radar at this point.

I don't think there is a time limit for how long a player can be on the Restricted List. "Retired" players stay on that list for years if they don't get their official release or sign the official retirement paperwork.



The Pirates can just keep Kang on the list. There is no harm in leaving him on the list. They aren't paying him and he doesn't take up a roster spot.



Another team can buy his rights, but no team can sign him as he is still a Pirate.

Dog is right on this. He could stay on "until his skills diminish".
