"Training wheels are off" when asked about his defense and not being replaced the last few games.

I think Bell is fine with the glove.  I am actually really impressed with his fielding as I thought it would be terrible.



His mental game still needs some work.  This weekend, he was in on a bunt with a man on second base.  Bell fielded the ball on one hop and then went right to first base.  He actually turned his back to third and didn't even look over.  The runner was dead at third.  And that was the reason why he was in, right? 



He makes that play to third, teams might think twice about bunting.  He is a smart hitter, so I hope he learns first base faster.

His back was to 3B. Wasn't anyone yelling which base to throw to?

I guess not. I guess Diaz was catching. But Bell looked like he had a hot potato and had to get rid of the ball right away.

On the list of problems this team currently has right now out of 100 Bell would probably be 99 on the list.

Just a topic on a Pirates baseball board. I didn't say he was a problem. No one said he is a problem. But he isn't perfect either and still needs to learn why he was put in that position.



(It would be great if he wasn't batting .234 either)
