By assists I mean taking into consideration contract status and volatility that is youth health exceterra.

I will start off with my discussion of number 1.

Not cutch

Not rivero - he is just a reliever

Not j-hay love the dude but a very firm ceiling

Not many

Maybe

Bell

Taillon

Cole

Matte

Polanco

Nova

I love Taillon and Cole still has solid to high value

Madge I no longer trust although how other guys like Nelson Cruz have come back from PED use gives me some encouragement

No to polanco because his defense is horrible a disorder about injury proneness. Nova I think could get a huge return at trading deadline though his contract is too short to help us when we are ready to contend again.

My number one asset is Bell. His glove is getting better and I feel confident he can be a 280 hitter with 25 + hr with nearly 5 years control

You are ranking Marte too high to me. Right now, he is a total unknown. Players who are nailed with PEDs usually fall apart after being suspended.

Marte is easily our number one asset. If we made him available, 29 teams would be making a call. Teams don't care about steroids. They want talent. He's a proven commodity signed to reasonable contract.

Number two is likely Bell, followed by Taillon, Rivero, Cole and Nova.

Polanco leads the next batch along with Cutch, Cervelli, Frazier and Harrison.

Freese, Nicasio, Watson and Mercer have some trade value. I'm sure I m missing someone, but that is my hierarchy.

This board hates our players, but we could get a lot trading them.

I don't think that's true. Here's a list of all players suspended.

I've been thinking about this for several days and find it really hard to come to an answer. Like you, I think there is very little value on this team. A lot of pretty good players but few if any true assets from a value standpoint. Even pretty good players get expensive, so we're left with an increasing payroll without any real assets behind the cost.

In order, I think our assets are ranked as follows:

1. Cole still has the most value. Pray for a good month from Garrett.

2. Taillon - a potential ace.

3. Nova - playing the role of ACE!

4. Bell - young, more athletic then he's been given credit for. Unlimited power potential.

Pretty big drop off to the next level:

5. Marte, but everyone will be watching carefully.

6. Polanco, I was sure he was going to be an All Star. I don't even want him starting any longer.

7. Cutch, his stock is rising, but future contract brings his value to the Pirates way down.

8. Cervelli - steady, very good with young guys.

9. Harrison, stock definitely rising, but I don't know if his contract helps or hurts the Pirates' value.

10. Diaz, he might have a lot more value then I'm assigning. He would not have been on the list at all a month ago.

Then the rest

10. Freese

11. Frazier, a bit more time to truly evaluate

12. Mercer

I would put Kang in top five but who knows if he will ever play again.

At this point, I don't think he will. I seems like he (and the team) were really counting on him winning his appeal as a path to getting a visa.

That didn't happen and, as far as I can tell, there has been no news. I don't know if he has given up or been denied again, but Coonley has been pretty silent on the situation (unlike before the appeal), so I wonder if they are preparing to move on without him.
