Just announced that Sean Rodriguez has been re-acquired from the Braves for a catching prospect. Hopefully not Diaz

Nice move. This should help in the clubhouse as well.

Interesting. With he and Freese both under contract next year, I wonder if this indicates the team does not expect Kang to return in 2018. I could see S-Rod starting at 3B with Freese as bench depth.

I hope the Bucs are not taking on all his salary.
He is good utility player and maybe he will hit close to like he did in 2016 but it is a big gamble to expect that kind of offense.

I don't know if there are cash considerations but he's due the remainder of 5.75 mil for this year and another 5.75 mil next year. I suspect they see him as the starting 3Bman next year. That's not too much to pay for a starter especially if they are again not paying Kang.

I agree it isn't too much for a starter especially if he plays like a starter. 2016 was about the only year he hit well enough to play regularly. If he starts that makes Freese (assuming he is still on the team) a $4 million back up at first and third.
For a team with a small payroll I think the Bucs devote too much of it to players that are not regulars (even include Stewart in this category).
