All right-handed line up for the Pirates. I think it is the first time all season.

Kuhl is cruising so far through four innings.

Marte with an RBI single and McCutchen with another HR.

2-0 Pirates.

I wish this Pirates team would either go on a 10 game winning streak or 10 game losing streak and fall completely out of it. This staying barely in the race at around .500 and 3-4 games out is driving me nuts.

I'll take this over a 10-game losing streak.

Right now they are at least hanging around and every game is meaningful.

They are one hot streak away from basically being tied for 1st.

Granted, this team is torturous. But I think that's better than the alternative.

So what exactly have we got here in Williams and Kuhl?

Both have been VERY impressive for 4-6 weeks now.

If both these players continue their good work , the last month and one half of the season may be very interesting. It also appears the addition of Kontos may have solidified the bullpen.

I like this. Anything that will drive Freddy nuts (along as Pirates win) is fine with me.

I missed the end of the game, but how did Kuhl fair in the sixth inning? His line wasn't very good that inning. That's been his problem all year.

And it's becoming more apparent that the Cubs are not going to run away with the division. They lost tonight and their lead is only 3 1/2 games. There is so much intra-divisional play remaining on the schedule that anything can still happen.

I agree VA that anything can still happen but I'm not going to get too excited just yet. Let's see how we do on this 7 game roadtrip to Detroit, Toronto this weekend, and then at Milwaukee for 2 next week. Go 5-2 in that stretch and get to 61-59 coming home for 4 games against the Cards next weekend and maybe we can start to get a little bit excited. This team still has a lot of work to do and is just as capable of crashing and burning as it is of going on a decent winning streak.
