This lack of hitting is awful. This team better find some hitters over this offseason. I am beginning to think besides a few pitchers anyone else could be trade bait this offseason.

This team is really shaping up nicely and looking like a strong contender for 2018.

Well I think I've got the prediction thread title wrapped up.

I picked the worst record of anyone, 77-85, and (sadly) there is no way the Pirates are going to come anywhere close to 77 wins.

And the shutout streak will almost surely continue tomorrow night, because the Brewers are going with a guy making his MLB debut as a starting pitcher ... and we all know what that means.

Yea this team needs major changes in the offseason in the lineup. You can't justify bringing back the sane team that is probably going to lose 90 games and finish in last place. There is no way this front office can spin this mess. You gotta make some changes and if that means trading guys like Polanco or Marte or both then so be it. Once again you can't bring back the same exact roster that lost 90 games and is probably going to finish in last place.

I think you're right Carolina. The title is yours for sure. Another point worth noting is that only 5 people (with one of those posters making an obvious typo at 74 runs) listed less than 700 runs scored for the season. Right now with 11 games remaining the Pirates have scored 609 runs. In order to reach 700 for the season they'll have to average more than 8 runs a game for the rest of the year.

I totally agree I would have no problem if they trade Marte and / or Polanco. Pursue Yellich from the Marlins. He would be a good fit at PNC Park.

I would hope than attendance is so low the rest of the home stand that there is an echo in the stadium. The front office and the players themselves have quit on the city, the fans and each other. Time for the fans to quit on them. Save your money like they do!

Agree, but the problem with that thinking is our owner has said attendance, or lack there of will result in lower payroll. Then again, when attendance was high, he didn't spend the money relative to the high attendance.

Nutting is just looking for excuses to cover his refusal to spend. When "the time was right" after a 98 win season, payroll became related to attendance. Except that attendance was a franchise record. So the org just lowered payroll 2 straight years with no real explanation. That resulted in an unacceptable product on the field with the expected reduction in attendance. So now we hear (again) that payroll is related to attendance, which has already been proven to be a blatant lie. Nutting is making money and most likely will continue to do so despite poor attendance. He doesn't need to spend money to make money. He's created a useful excuse for his refusal to spend. So now he can keep payroll low, continue to lose, get his luxury tax payments from MLB and his broadcast rights fees. He's making money without a good TV contract so even if the new deal continues to be low paying, it won't cut into his profits. It's a win-win for him.
