Jordan Luplow has been named the Bucs Minor League Player of the Year. He sort of came out of nowhere. Over the offseason we heard of Meadows, Newman and others. Luplow got very little media attention.

yep, he earned this award. Hit better in higher levels than in lower ones. Hope his bat is for real.

Kids got legitimate pop in his bat.  He's an OF butcher, but at least he can drive the baseball.

It's kind of telling that he wasn't on the prospect worshiping radar and he's one of the best looking prospects we have right now.

What does it mean when your minor league player of the year has a really good chance to be a fourth outfielder?

It says that it's time to start talking up the angle that the kids in the minors "know how to win" since the AA team won the championship despite rather pedestrian individual stats from all but two of them

NH was working on that angle just the other day and P2 is right on the talking points as always

The same guys also won last year in A+ and the year before in A I believe. Amazing how a team can win with only rather pedestrian individual stats for all but two players. It's too bad our team at the major league level doesn't know how to do that.

I show Luplow mashing before callup, and Kevin Kramer having a nice year with the bat until he broke his hand in June.

Otherwise, I don't see an OPS over .800, I guess 24 year old Jerek Suiter counts, though he's an off the radar guy too.     Don't see a starting pitcher with an ERA under 3.00, though several solidly just over 3.00.  Looks like a team full of decent players.

Who is jumping out individually off their stat sheet, outside of Luplow and Kramer before his hand?

I think they were just an above avg team that benefited from getting hot in a small sample size playoff situation, like the cardinals winning he WS after an 83 win year in 2006

Also they benefitted by having players that were decent but not so great they got called up to AAA or MLB by seasons end like other clubs but got a boost with some A+ promotions though
