I know there has been talk about expansion, but I didn't think it would mean a total realignment with teams switching leagues.

I hate it. There would no longer be a NL and AL as we know it.

Also even if they were to do it the divisions they chose are goofy as hell.

--Houston is in a "Midwest" division but somehow Minnesota, Detroit, Cleveland aren't.

--Even with all the Jostling the Pirates still aren't in Cleveland's division, despite all of the claims of preserving "Natural Rivalries." I know there are arguments about whether Pittsburgh is Midwest of East Coast, but they're in a division with a bunch of teams from the South.

I posted elsewhere that this is how I'd do it:

NL East--MTL, NYM, PHI, PIT

DC, ATL, MIA, TB

NL West--CHI, CIN, STL, MIL

LAD, SD, SFG, COL (or AZ)

AL East--NYY, BOS, BAL, TOR

CLE, DET, SOX, MIN

AL West--LAA, SEA, PTL, OAK

HOU, TEX, KCR, AZ (or COL)

So you'd have either two eight team divisions or four four-teams in each league. You would need two teams to change leagues. I think Tampa might benefit playing their Florida rival and might go for it.

The 156 games can't happen in my opinion. It would be messing with the history books way too much. They just need more double headers (or day & night on the same day) to shorten the season.

I also don't want losing records or .500 teams in the playoffs. Sorry, you don't deserve it.

I really do like how the divisions are set up now. It's hard to build up rivalries and need to keep the ones that are in place.

But if they want to add two teams, something has to happen.  I just don't get blowing up 140 or whatever years of tradition just to accomplish that.  The length of schedule thing doesn't really bother me (it's changed before) but I imagine the owners wouldn't.

I'd rather rivalry with Philly or the Mets than the teams we're in with now.

Keep in mind too that this means we'd all get the DL.

Is there anything to suggest this might happen? Or is this just one of those speculation articles that gets loose in the world? I would prefer the Phils and Mets - there's more history there and a more natural fit. The reduced travel also would make sense. I don't like the DH nor ending the division set-up in general.

I do think there is talk about 156 games, expansion, and more playoff teams. They might be real issues. You know every Commissioner needs to change something in their mind so they have that stamp on the game.

;D It's such a hard "word" to spell though, don't judge!

Hey, Sammy is 1 for 2, which is a .500 batting average.

Something is going to happen eventually.

The biggest thing I am against is mixing up the leagues even more.

I want to keep as many original NL teams in the NL as possible (and same for AL).
