Wonder if he can play third base and if so wonder what the price would be! Switch over to short when Jordy needs time off with Freeze or S Rod playing third.

That would be a really good target and good idea. I would be all for that signing, move.

Leyland 1948 nailed this one. After never playing a major league game at any position other than SS, Cozart is signed for $38M / 3YR to play 3B for the Angles. Good call.

And now for something completely different: Leyland I love your name. In 1979, Jim Leyland came to town to manage our AAA team. Nobody had ever heard of him. He was replacing a successful and very popular manager.

It took about two weeks to forget the other manager and realize this guy was a gem. After a few years, La Russa whisked him away to coach with the White Sox. Then, as a Pirate fan I was thrilled beyond belief when the Bucs hired Leyland as Manager in 1985. I had a good idea what was coming.

Even at 73, I wish the Pirates would hire him back in some meaningful role. This organization needs a kick-in-the-pants. Jim could do it.

Thanks INbuc. I thought Cozart would be an upgrade at third but the powers to be did not argue did not want to spend the money or I read he wanted to play for a wining team so that probably went against us. Mr. Leyland lived close to me when he was managing and I liked his no BS style of managing. The Marlboro pack was never far away!
