A date I will never forget
My family traveled from LA back to Pittsburgh to visit family
I was 14 and we had tickets for Sunday’s doubleheader.
Pirates/Dodgers, my first games at Three Rivers Stadium
The stadium was packed, 48,000. It seemed huge to me.
Especially the giant scoreboard that went from LC to RC
The Pirates won the 1st gam 3-2 with a run in the bottom of the 9th After the Dodgers had tied in the top half.
But is was the second game that will me permanently etched in my memory. Luke Walker had a no hitter going into the 9th inning.
The Bucs were cruising with a 7-0 lead.
The crowd was deafening as Walker warmed up.
But a few secondslater the no no was gone as Joe Ferguson hit a lead off homer. It was a great day and year to be a Bucco fan
