For as much damage as Holderman is doing to this team, Bednar isn't much better. 5.17 ERA. Scored upon in 3 straight outings (just 2 less than Holderman), 4 of his last 6 games and 6 of his last 11 games. A career high 7 HRs allowed in only 38.1 innings. His highest WHIP and lowest K rare of his Pirate career. 4 blown saves already in 41 games. Last year he had 3 in 66 games.

You can not have that combination as part of an offensive aresnal, and this really needs to change.
I totally agree we strike out too much. Put the darn ball in play!

not good. Bednar made the All Star game in 2023 and 2022. In late June it looked like Holderman was a candidate for the 2024 team.
It now looks like the Pirates should not try and get a multi-year contract with either of them.
