Oakland up 4 - 0. Time to bring Glasnow in to see if he can be a relief pitcher. :)

Hats off to Leathersich for battling Harper on that at bat. He and Sanchez cleaned up a couple of real messes today.

Here is a hodgepodge of stats / facts from the season finale:

1. The first six Pirate pitchers were rookies.

2. The Bucs' team WHIP for the day was 2.56.

3. Nine Pirates threw 133 strikes...and 224 pitches overall. Nova threw 95 pitches in one of his complete games this spring.

4. Including Bell and Brault, the Bucs started 6 rookies.

5. The Nationals were 0 for 7 with the bases loaded.

6. According to ESPN, at 4 hours and 22 minutes, this was the longest non-dealyed, nine-inning game in both Pirates and Nationals history.

7. Jacob Stallings hit .301 at Indy and .357 in the bigs.

8. Somehow, the Bucs managed to win consecutive games against pitchers with 16 and 15 wins respectively, and sub 3.00 ERAs.

He had a relative hot streak but is back to being unreliable, much too unreliable for a late inning reliever.

Hudson has to be the most disappointing player this year. I'd give him that title over Cole, Watson, and Glasnow.

Polanco, Cole, Watson, Glasnow and Hudson were all in the same boat. They grossly underachieved. Cole is supposed to be our ace. He was subpar. Glasnow was a bust this year. Don't forget that. Everyone was thinking he could make serious impact on this roster.

Bobster certainly got two nice games to watch. A good way to end the season. Hope you enjoyed yourself!

A pair of very interesting games to watch. Although the 4.5 hours Sunday was a bit much. That game featured 45 players (23 Pirates, 22 Nats) including 15 pitchers (9 Bucs, 6 Nats). The Sat-Sun games were the Max Moroff Show. He really put on a show! He had the only hit Saturday thru 8 innings in what looked like a lackluster loss until the 9th when his 3-run triple turned the game around. Then he cleared the bases again in the 1st inning Sunday. And what's up with Stallings? 3 hits. And in his 2 brief stints in 2016-17 he is 11 for 29 .379). Osuna looked like a water buffalo in RF yesterday having no clue how to catch a fly ball. Maybe he can learn 3B. Taillon looked very good Saturday. As did Rivero. Kontos with a win and a save.

The Nats' stadium reminds me more of a football stadium. We had good seats in the last row of the lower deck behind the 3B dugout ($75). Then there's a mezzanine level behind the plate, 2 club levels (one seems to be for media), and then 2 more seating levels. So at the very top, people are sitting at the 6th level. It holds 41,000. The Nats fans were friendly and often stopped to talk to us in our Pirates gear.

Hotel (Hampton Inn) was across the street from the stadium. They have an outdoor rooftop bar overlooking the stadium. They have no parking so it's all valet parking for which they charge $50 a night. Yikes! Found a brew pub around the corner to watch the first half of the Steeler game. That was good too!

They kept showing this old guy with long gray hair pecking at a tiny flip phone. I assuming that was bobster until I know otherwise. :)

Hey, if the flip phone was good enough for Davy Crockett, it's good enough for me!

Nice report. I hope you didn't try to keep score.
