You can call out anyone you want.  I come here for the discussion in which I enjoy.

I don't know why you don't realize that what you keep saying is statistically incorrect.   24 year old season is the only one that's even close between the two offensively, and cutch still has him clearly.

At 22 Cutch put up an .836 OPS, Polanco .650
At 23 Cutch put up an .814 OPS, Polanco  .701
At 24 Cutch put up an .820 OPS, Polanco  .786
At 25 thru April cutch is .723 OPS, Polanco .671

Cutch has it where it counts more too.  More power (.458 slugging vs .404)  much better OBP (.374 vs .318) and 2 all-stars vs 0.

Are you looking at batting average or what?   Because I don't even see that.

I already posted the stats:

24 year old Polanco: 22 HR, 86 RBI, .258 ave, .373 obp, .463 slg, .786 ops

24 year old McCutchen: 23 HR, 89 RBI, .259 ave, .364 obp, .456 slg, .820 ops

You really don't see the comparison: 1 less HR, 3 less RBI, .001 difference in average, .009 difference in OBP (someone did say that stat might be wrong), .007 difference in SLG, and .034 difference in OPS.

Honestly, you don't think those stats are similar?

dog -your numbers for Polanco don't add up. 373 and and 463 makes an OPS of 846.

However, his OBA was not 373 but 323. http://www.baseball-reference.com/playe ... gr01.shtml

His slugging this year is down 161. He needs to start hitting soon. Right now it is hard to imagine what has happened to him.

Sorry, that was pointed out. You are correct, I typed the wrong on-base percentage.

The difference in OBP is .041.

I think the difference of perspective might be in the idea of the trajectory. Dog is looking at their seasons in isolation. Va is looking at the trend. Cutch was relatively consistent with OPS around .800 while Polanco was improving leading into the 25-yr old season. So Cutch's weak April wasn't as much a concern as he was usually .800 or better. But, Polanco needs to be improving, and he ends last year and starts this one at a low production level. That's cause for concern, me thinks.
