I would think that ship has sailed with the acquisition of Brentz.
Nope.

You couldn't wait for that one!

I just didn't think a minor league signing/trade would matter much. Brentz is a flyer. No big deal either way.

The players griping, fans complaining and Bob Nutting giving public interviews indicate to me that we actually made a difference on this one.
Dickerson was Dfa'ed on the 17th. Ray's had 10 days to trade.
Players and fans kept the heat on when they reported to camp. Kept the negativity going. To the point that NH and Nutting were making damage control interviews.
NH signed Saunders and Brentz after the 17th...still stockpiling scrub LFers, so no deal in place at that point.
Congratulations bucco nation, I think we made a difference in lighting a fire under these jerks for once!

Agreed. Keep it going. I cancelled MLB.tv this week...it was quit3 liberating, actually. They ask you why you are cancelling. It was great being able to click, “My favorite team is not good.” The only thing they understand is $$$.

You aren't serious, are you? I mean, you can't be. You can't honestly think that a couple of guys on your team speaking out, some media pressure, and social media warriors forced the FO to make a trade...can you? If you do think that, the FO and Nutting may be the worst business people ever. Successful people do not allow outside people to dictate vision and direction for an organization. I'm quite confident that, if they wanted to, they could have easily dealt with the negativity for these couple weeks and allowed things to cool down without making a trade. To suggest that "we" had an impact on their decision making... ;D

I'm sure they didn't care at all about the fans. But when the players began to publicly complain about a lack of commitment to win, things began to happen.

I don't know. I don't see those two things as correlated. David Freese didn't make Dickerson available on the TB side of things. Once Dickerson was available, it made sense for the Pirates go after him. They were even able to acquire him with out giving up much and keeping payroll about the same. These are the sorts of trades that the Pirates have made over the years. Nothing new here. There is no reason to congratulate any one for complaining and pointing to it having any effect.

Yes pmike. I'm serious. They care, or they wouldn't have been going out of their way to damage control the situation when the players reported.
A business making a change after overwhelming feedback from their customers and employees...yeah wow, that's a first ::)
I understand there's a VERY vocal minority of the blogosphere and fanbase that just want everyone to stop complaining, shut up and accept what we're given as fans. Hell, there's almost a Twitter fraternity of "media" people and bloggers attacking fans.
Sorry you're not getting your way.
