The Great American Band Box strikes again. These are the kinds of games the Pirates are going to need to win based on their pitching when they are up 2-1. Not looking like it’s gonna happen today now.

Apparently, it's only a bandbox when the Reds bat. :'(

Taillon has to get both Barnhart and Iglesias there after the Peraza homer. You can’t let those guys beat you and Taillon did and it costs the Pirates big time.

Dickerson with a HR! Ok, NOW it's a bandbox.

if the Bucs are going to be good, Taillon (and other starters) is going to have to get through the 7th some of the time. It looked like he was cruising. what was it 75 pitches through 6?
Time to get 5 or 6 runs against Reds bullpen.

Agreed if he is gonna be the ace of this staff he has to pitch better then that. He is gonna need to win some games 2-1 like today.

You're right, but pitchers aren't usually at their best the first game or 2.

About as good as the Pirates could have hoped for having the bases loaded and Dickerson up with the game on the line. Disappointed in Marte missing the entire game for a Migraine headache. There are medications you can take for that that can make it go away within a certain amount of time. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but not the kind of thing you wanted for a guy like Marte to start the season. These things with him become so annoying more times then not.

I've had migraines. Thankfully, not for years. But when they hit, you are incapacitated. It is extremely painful, it hurts to even open your eyes and you are nauseous. Anyone who thinks you can just take medication and it goes away has never had one. I played softball and baseball for over 30 years and hated to ever miss a game. I was the most reliable player on any team I was on. One day we were going to be down to the bare minimum of players and I got a migraine. As much as I hated to bail, there was no way I could play with a migraine. They are debilitating. All you can do is lay quietly in a dark room and hope you don't throw up. I'm sure Marte didn't want to miss the game. But if he had a migraine, he could not have played.
