The Baseball Pundits ( other than Pittsburgh) are saying that Konnor Griffin was
the best player available at #9 and were surprised he wasn't picked earlier.

The toolsy guys never work out with the Pirates, and with this guy Griffin, the worries are his hitting !


Jacoby Jones, Charles Peterson,TSwag that 3rd round CF from Bama few years back. All of them fail. My thought process is go college and move them quick before Pirate coaching can mess them up, but that really hasn't worked either.

I have been on the lookout for a telegram.

Interesting draft, high school players at the beginning but then I think it is 15 college players overall with just one a sophomore (meaning possibly harder to sign).

I knew undrafted players sign as free agents shortly after the draft is over but I didn't realize that this started the day of the draft. A college pitcher who went to my local high school signed as a free agent with the Orioles by 9 p.m. eastern time (was announced around that time by the high school team's radio announcer on Facebook so it may have been right after draft was completed).
