Gutsy call by Hurdle. Avoided their best hitter but put tie run on 2B to set up LH/LH matchup. I've always said this team needs better than a formula manager. And I didn't like his earlier moves. But in IMHO, Hurdle came thru for them at the end.

Important game for the Pirates to win as they now come home and play 22 of their next 31 games at PNC Park until mid June. If the Pirates are going to make any kind of run which I still have my doubts they will do they need to do it here in this stretch of home games they have coming up the next 4-5 weeks. They play a lot of teams in this stretch that aren't very good and who they have a chance to maybe stack some wins against.

Quick thoughts ...
* 2 HUGE wins to avert complete disaster on the road trip.
* No idea how the Pirates survived the 8th, 9th and 10th innings allowing only 1 run total.
* I like Osuna.
* I don't like Hudson. He's terrible. He needs to be Gooselined right out of town.
* This is still not a good team by any stretch. But that was two very good wins, although we sure tried to blow it in the late innings.

As many issues as this team has there are still some bright spots. Bell looks like a real middle of the order bat. Osuna could potentially be a good player. Frazier can really hit. Nova and Cole are both pitching well.

Bell shouldn't be removed anymore. Big hit today by Osuna, but he still isn't hitting enough. Bell doesn't look smooth, but he is making the plays. He had a hard one hit to him today and he made the play. He still hasn't been tested much, but I would play him until he is at least tested.

Yeah, I think there are bright spots. Gotta build around them.
Maybe Bell is going to be the next Pops.
