What is BSR and how is it calculated? Is this another opinion stat? Does it play heavy on stealing bases?

In my opinion, people think good base runners are guys who can steal bases. That isn't always true.

It is like defense. If a player has a strong arm, he is said to be a good defensive player. I think that is why Polanco was said to be a good defensive player. McCutchen doesn't have a strong arm, said to be bad on defense. Another player who I thought was a good outfielder with a bad arm was Jason Bay. Bay was excellent in running routes to the ball. Bay wasn't the fastest or had a strong arm, but he played a fine defense.

Agains, how is BSR calculated?

And Diaz MUST be the regular over Stewart. It's simply idiotic to play Stewart ahead of Diaz at this point.

I'm concerned that Nova might be hitting a wall, which to be honest would not be all that surprising. No way he could maintain his performance level of the first 2 months.

Agree on all counts. CH always plays veterans ahead of players with little experience even when it's obvious like Diaz, Revero, I could go on and on, are far Superior. Just being stupid and hurting our chances of winning.

Keep going...who else has Hurdle played over the younger, better player?

It's hard to know if they are better if they don't play. Moroff looks terrible at the plate but he rarely plays so is it even fair to evaluate him? It fits the old cliché of not being able to get a job without experience but not being able to get experience without a job.

Osuna is another who gets little playing time while Polanco struggles or Jaso plays.

I would argue he should be using Edgar Santana over Watson, Leblank, and Marinez. Santana was crazy-good in AAA but rots on the bench in the majors.

You can't deny the upside of Polanco and what he did last year. It's not like Polanco is just aging veteran. He still needs at bats to get going to prove himself too. Tough call with Polanco.

Osuna and Jaso are about even and are kind of platooning. More right-handed batters, more playing time for Jaso.

Osuna is coming around. He should play more. I would play him over Frazier and Polanco with the right match ups. Maybe he should platoon with Frazier, who has struggled lately?

Freese has gone cold too. It may be best to give him time some time off and play Harrison over there more.

If the idea is to play new young guys to see what they can do, I'm not sure why we would not then start dealing off our older assets.

The young guys might not be good. Osuna was pretty bad in May when he started 13 games. I also don't consider Polanco and Frazier old.
