Kluber last year started Game 1, Game 4, and Game 7 for the Indians. Young in 2015 started Game 1 and Game 4 for the Royals.
The games have always been 2, travel day, 3, travel day, 2. Many years ago it was common to have the ace start games 1, 4 and 7. With the travel day, that gave them 3 days rest. In the era of 5-man rotations, it's rare to find a mgr willing to pitch his ace on 3 days rest. But I recall the 1968 WS when the Tigers had Denny McLain start games 1 and 4 and brought him back on 2 days rest for game 6. And Mickey Lolich had pitched games 2 and 5 and then started game 7 on 2 days rest. McLain and Lolich both won on 2 days rest to win the series.

Question about Bellinger:
Bellinger looks like he has a long swing to me, but it is super fast. I don't know if that is really true, it being super fast. Is there a stat that calculates bat speed?
I ask because I wonder how much slower is Polanco's bat speed. Polanco has a very long swing too. I do know Polanco is an inch taller.

I loved the reference to Art Ditmar in 1960 as the last WS pitcher to go less than 2 innings in 2 starts. Groat, Skinner and The Great One did him in in game 1. Stuart, Burgess and Maz were too much for him in game 5.

I wonder if Dave Robert's job is in jeopardy if the Dodgers lose? Starting Darvish might cost him. Why not Start Kershaw if you were going to bring him into the game in the 3rd inning?

Charlie with the ball in the 9th! He will be the winning pitcher.
Looking great! Great guy!

I'm glad Altuve made the final put out.
Sports Illustrated should get some more business.
Too bad Game 7 wasn't better, but still a great World Series overall.
Liriano and Morton get a ring.

Good for Astros. Only thing that ticks me off is that Liriano pitches 2/3 of an inning over 7 games and ends up with a WS ring. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Morton and Liriano have been in the playoffs four out of the last five years.
I wonder if this World Series makes Morton a big free agent pitcher this off season?

He's under contract thru 2018.

I don't think anyone will have any illusions about Morton. He's not a an ace. He's a decent 4 or 5 starter. Where I think he could be great, and perhaps with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight where the Pirates should have used him, is as a middle reliever, capable of going multiple innings. It was always his second or third time through the order where he got into trouble. So, don't give him a second or third time through. Use him like we used Joe Blanton in 2015.
