I would trade Cole for Clint Frazier if that is an option.
I don't want to lose Cole, but the talks/reports from Pirates Fest weren't very good in my opinion. I understand why GM talk happens, but it wasn't very encouraging that additions would be made. I see a youth movement with the current players already in tow.

I'm trying to figure out why the Yanks would covet Cole. He would be their #4 at best. They aren't handing over Frazier for a #4. The Yanks as far as prospects match up very well. I see others that would fit in fine.

Cole would be in every rotation in baseball. He is 27 years old and has five years under his belt. Cole would bring a ton of attention if he is available.
The Yankees have extra outfielders and need another starter. Rotation labels can be silly. The top four guys all get close to the same amount of starts.

But, his head would explode in NY. He doesn't have the mental makeup to make that work. Labels might be stupid, but nevertheless, he would be at best the #4 in that rotation. He ain';t better than Tanaka; he ain't better than Gray and he ain't better than Severino. They ain't giving up a prime prospect like Frazier for a #4. It's silly to think they would.
Give me two of the following three ... Acevado, Andujar and Florial.
I see us getting worse to be honest.

what the NY guy expects the Pirates could get. Very interesting seeing this perspective.

If this is something the Yanks would offer, NH can't turn that down. I don't think the Yanks would offer that at all. NH would probably ask for Torres along with Frazier and Adams which would negate the deal. I would drive Cole to NY myself if its Wade, Frazier, Adams and Cessa. I really don't think Cole is worth a Sonny Gray return. Why? Because he isn't Sonny Gray.

I'm going to recant a bit. We really don't have a need for Wade. I do that for Frazier, Adams and Cessa though.

For some reason, I can see NH doing a Frazier, Tate, and Schmidt deal.
Tate is still a starter, but seems like he's gonna be a decent bullpen piece. Schmidt was good in college, but had TJS. I can see them wanting to work with that for some reason.
Do the Pirates dare take on some player the Yankees wanna shed salary. Headley is gone so not sure who that could be.
