It is high time that the baseball fans and gods take hold and let guys like Morosi, Heyman, etal that if they are going to tweet, instagram, email, blog or whatever about at big time trade the need to be sure that it is a done deal.  Have no problem with any of them saying that so and so team is looking at so and so player from another team but to bluntly without any hint of proof that a deal is going down they need not make outlandish statements that get fans of both teams excited.

I guess that is what we old farts have to put up with in the electronic web based world where big news gets disseminated rather quickly.
I agree with you on this. It was reported as a done deal. I have no issue with saying they are in talks, getting close whatever. This is a little different saying it was complete.

my guess?  they're working it's just not done yet.
Yeah probably. It could also mean someone else is trying to get our attention?

I just hope to not hear anything this time about how it was all an evil conspiracy by NH to people people think he was doing something, that he convinced national pundits to go along with because reasons

Anything that happens will have mixed reviews.  If Cole stays, Huntington messed up.  If Cole is traded, the Pirates didn't get enough even though those people think Cole isn't a top pitcher.  Or if they don't get a certain player, Huntington stinks at trading even though he shouldn't ask for any top prospects because that is foolish.  We have seen this all happen with no moves (yet).  And no moves by any teams either.
If he doesn't get more than one top prospect he (Huntington should be fired) oh he should be fired anyway, but my goodness if you can't get something for a guy with a arm like Cole, why are they paying him. Cole reminds me of Jason Schmidt, all kinds of potential never pitched good for the Pirates, then we trade him away and he becomes dominent, no doubt that's what's going to happen here.

Just got an update from The Score app that said the Yanks have pulled out entirely talking to the Pirates for Cole. So ...

I just hope that all of these conflicting reports are a sign that Huntington is working to get the best deal, and not just any deal.

It all does sound like Pirate created theatre in order to force some team to blink and pay a fair price. I also agree that if he fails to move Cole it will be a major failure. Cole, Cutch, Harrison, Cervelli on a 78 win team.......... what's the point? I actually would be far more interested in seeing a team comprised of serious prospects then that tired show which does not interest me a lick!

I think it's team holding onto their prospects as they are worried about the Luxury Tax. It's like teams don't want to give out big contracts. They can easily sign a Darvish or Arietta. But they want long term deals. Like I have said, very weird off season.

Still would be smart to try to get AJ Reed in the deal ..OK.OK I know we have Bell but we could move Reed later .He needs more time at AAA so it could work out nice come July. Thinking 2 or 3 moves ahead is not the way the pirates work and it is for sure not the way the posters on this site think.

Maybe since we can't seem to sell off pieces acceptably right now we could go sign Todd Frazier a la Jay Bruce, make a couple strong bullpen moves and try to win?

If the market is so tight, try to win until July 31st at least. You know, try to fill the stands get some excitement going?

Signing a player or trading for a player to trade them later isn't a good plan either. We should be past the era of getting guys to trade. That thinking needs to go away.

Anyone see the Cole - Scherzer comparison? Pretty interesting. This is also why I want to buy as guys are entering their prime years.
