It just sucks there isn't a lot of free agents out there.  Huntington missed the boat last off season.  He has to work a trade.

I don't see Locke back by any means.  Well, maybe if he paid the Pirates to play.  Then maybe.
Yeah, Liriano was doing more harm than good and I didn't mind moving him. But what bothered me and others was that they threw in good prospects to avoid paying any of Liriano's remaining salary. That was the problem with the deal; not the fact that they moved Liriano.

Well who do you think has a better chance to be good next year?

1). Liriano

2). Morton

3). Derek Holland (?)

4). Nova

5). Nick Kingham, etc.

Out of that list I'd take Nova.

Well I'd like both of them, but that's beyond the point I guess, heh

On that list I would go with No. 5. The "etc" picks up (I assume) at least the remainder of the Indianapolis pitchers. One of them certainly has a better chance to be good than the four above.

You left one other guy off your list:  That being our friend Dogknot!   ;D ;D ;D Just kidding Dog but my opinion of those guys is that you could do better than most of them.

Astros with more moves. Trade for Brian McCann and sign Josh Reddick.

They may not be making great moves but they are making them fast.

Well, whatdoyaknow...  I'm certainly surprised to hear that you  don't mind the trade.    You could be handed a month old, soggy ham sandwich for $100 and, so long as NH or the Pirates organization gave it to you, wouldn't mind the deal.

------------------------------------------------------------

This Morton contract is just a continuation of the embarrassment that was giving away two top 100 prospects to save about 16 million dollars spread over a season and a half.

Possibly the worst trade in NH's tenure.  Only the Bay trade could compete with it.   It wasn't even a trade, it was a complete salary dump of a relatively small amount of money at the cost of two prospects.  The guy we traded for would be non-tendered in a heartbeat had NH not traded for him. If he were one of our own pitching as poorly as he does, and already in Arb, he would be a goner.

Liriano and Nova by far. Liriano finished normally for the Jays last year and, you know, has that whole career thing showing that he can pitch on his side? I know that doesn't mean much ::)

Nova because he's not a reclamation project based on what he did for us the last half of last year.

The rest of those guys aren't even remotely comparable as far as probability of being good goes. They simply aren't good, or haven't yet been good.
