Tim over at P2 mentioned that the Volquez signing with Tampa reunited him with Jim Benedict the other half of the Pirates make better pitching guru duo. Does his signing there make you want to believe that Benedict might have been more involved in Volquez turn around in Pgh that Ray? Good question to know the answer for.

What is Volquez looking for if that is the case: In two years to move on to a contender after work with Benedict for a big pay check?



If that is the case, why did he leave Pittsburgh? Did he forget everything or not use the same tools when he went to Kansas City? I don't remember what the Pirates offered him, but it was close to what he got in Kansas City.



Money talks. He took the highest offer and that was Miami.

I don't know about that. In two years he'll be 35 (ish).
