In all seriousness, I think a big part of Hurdle's problem is that in 15 years as a manager he's managed only 4 winning teams. He seems too accustomed to leading a team in the developmental stage. By that I mean, rather than making all the logical moves to put his players and team in the best situation to win, he's far too concerned with resting hot players to give someone else a chance, leaving struggling pitchers in so that they can learn, removing effective pitchers by pitch counts or by formulas. He just seems to me to be stuck in the gear of trying to develop players as if winning is secondary.

Hurdle being Hurdle just makes no sense you would set your hottest hitter to start a series.

I think you may be giving him to much credit. I just think he can't stand winning.

Watson had sone bad luck again. Where was Harrison on that pop fly? Was he too far over towards second base? Such a tough play for Bell. Osuna was just jogging in too.



Then Freese makes a bad throw. Watson just put his head down. Not sure if anything was said to Freese by Watson or vice versa, but there was no "love tap" to Freese from Watson either.



Two hits won't score many runs either.

For a guy who's put runners on base in EVERY one of his appearances but had a great ERA until last night, I'd say his luck has been pretty darned good. It caught up to him last night when he got a couple bad breaks. But then it was Watson who compounded the problem by serving up the HR ball after that.
