Contreras is out of options. When the Orioles claimed him on waivers he had to go on the 40-mn roster. The Orioles just claimed another player and DFA'd Contreras to make room on the 40-man roster for the new waiver claim. Could be the Orioles hope he clears waivers and can be outrighted to AAA.
