True...but, here's the difference. Tom Hanks making that much bank in a movie doesn't really price average people out of a theatre or prevent people from subscribing to Netflix, or renting a movie on iTunes or whatever. Second, his payment doesn't prevent MGM, or 21st Century Fox, or Disney, or Icon, or any other studio from producing movies. Professional sports, by their very nature, are a different ball of wax, so to speak. For the league, any league, to thrive, every team has to have a chance to be champions. The has been the knock on the English Premier League for a long time. For decades, it was a foregone conclusion that one of four teams would win the title. Baseball isn't close to being at that level, but the league as a whole does have a vested interest in promoting a level playing field.
