I think they just (correctly or not) believe that he still has something to contribute to the team.  People were saying very similar things about Sean Rodriguez a year ago at this time and it turned out the staff was right.

I do think that you're right in that with some turnover this season that he'll be moving on before long.
The difference with Rodriguez is that he had defensive value at multiple positions. So even if he didn't hit (and his offense was certainly a pleasant surprise last year), he could give a guy a day off at almost any INF or OF spot or could enter a game at any spot when a player came out for injury, double-switch or whatever. Moving Jaso from catcher to 1B last year was something of a stretch and altho he's had minimal work in the OF and 3B, he's essentially a bench player with little or no versatility. His best case scenario is to be a productive LH pinch-hitter, give Bell an occasional day off or serve as insurance should Bell flop so badly he must go back to AAA. And then they're just as weak at 1B as they were last year. Even Freese would be a better backup at 1B if Harrison or Gosselin get a few starts at 3B. And if Kang returns (IF!) Freese goes to the bench and is still ahead of Jaso on any positional depth chart. That said, watch Jaso get a PH HR to win the game today. :)
