Watson gives up a slow roller for an infield single. Unreal how this happening to him.

Braves win. Watson threw good pitches, they were hit.

Dumb to continue that game. Oh well. Adams is now good again.

I find consolation in Boras getting poked in the eye.

I don't think Adams was bad when he was with the Cardinals. They just had a better first baseman, also left-handed. They tried him in the outfield, to keep his bat in the lineup, but he was bad there - he's not an outfielder. He's a good, serviceable first baseman but was extra in St. Louis - and will be in Atlanta as well when their regular guy gets back from his injury.

Gotta win the next 2 now just to salvage a split in this series. Winning 6 of 8 will mean nothing if you follow it up by losing 3 of 4 or getting swept by a bad Braves team. I get the sense listening to Hurdle talk after these games that he is starting to get burned out and more frustrated. His demeanor is definitely not the same as it was a few years back.

He has to be, watching the play night after night and then having to put a positive spin on things after the game. No one wants to be embarrassed like that.

Watson (3.54 ERA, 1.62 WHIP) is throwing good pitches and having bad luck. Cutch (.200/.271/,359) is hitting the ball hard.

When we see players on other teams with these kinds of stats do we make similar excuses and presume they are actually opponents to be feared? I don't think so. It is what it is. Players either produce or they don't. Bad stats are the result of prolonged periods of being unproductive. They don't give participation trophies for failure due to bad luck or hitting hard outs.
