Elroy Face had 7 or 8 of those in 1959 in his incredible 18-1 season. He still holds the MLB record for winning percentage (.947). But Face still finished with a 2.70 ERA and 1.243 WHIP. If Watson winds up 18-1 I won't complain. But I'm guessing he won't.

Hurdle has got to be the worst Manager in baseball, anyone can see the closer should be Rivero, not Watson. How many games do we have to lose before he move Rivero to closer. It is just like him leaving Cutch batting 3rd with a .200 batting avg. the 1st quarter of the year. If Huntington doesn't can Hurdle then he needs to be canned. Hurdle is more interested in taking care of his buds instead of winning games. How do we get rid of this scourge.

I watched Elroy Face and Watson ain't no Elroy Face and definitely won't only lose 1 game this year, if Hurdle keeps running him out as a closer. He shouldn't be used in a closer role period.

Rivero is clearly their best. But I hate the whole closer concept. If Rivero was held back to protect leads in the 9th instead of getting out of jams in the 7th or 8th there might be fewer 9th inning leads to protect. If I managed this bullpen it would be a closer by committee. Rivero would be the #1 guy and if he wasn't needed earlier, he would pitch the 9th. If he was needed sooner, Watson or Nicasio or LeBlanc would pitch the 9th depending on match ups including those pitchers' career stats against the due batters. Watson simply isn't good enough to be anointed the closer.

Watson has pitched 22 innings and given up 29 hits with 4 HRs and ERA of 4.03. Folks a blind man should know a guy with this many games under his belt and these stats shouldn't be closing games. But not our great manager. Soooooooooooooo frustrating.

I don't hate T. Watson, he was great a couple of years ago when he threw 95 to 96 mph. He now throws 92 mph and is being worn out by our opponents. He either needs to develop more/better pitches. Until he does he should not be brought in with 1 run games or tie games.

Stewart, Hanson and Osuna lead the team in triples. Yikes!

I wonder if any team will want to acquire Watson later this season, or can he fetch a decent return in a trade. His season is very up and down.
