I rely a lot on Pirates Prospects. They've watched prospect over the years at each level, and present at games at various times during the year. The future of a given prospect is always an uncertainty, but I give PP more credibility than an organization that is trying to watch the prospects of thirty teams. (As to the depth of the system - across systems, those checking all the teams obviously are in better position to compare.)

Just wait till January -- that OnlyBucs.net poll is much better informed and much more reliable (in my mind, at least).
milb.com is probably the first site I check every summer morning at the office. I found P2's prospect watch too limited. I usually have a couple of guys at each level that I find intriguing and pay particular close attention to the guys that are young for their level. I think the only level I didn't really pay attention to was the DSL, so Apostel was not on my radar at all.
This fangraphs writeup might be the best analysis you can get without a subscription on the web. I think the only writeup that I objected to was the Will Craig blurb, that seemed to me to be scouting his stat line, I think he takes a big step in 2018.

I thought it was funny that the position for Will Craig was DH. Is he not projected to be a Pirate in the future?

He was shifted to 1B in his 1st yr in pro ball and has been there since. His basic problem is his lack of HR power. Has good OBP skills but just not the power for a corner inf or of spot. Info gathered from P2 over the last yr and a half. Try it you'll like it and know a good bit more about the Pirates Prospects.

I have a problem with Fangraphs and most of the other "national" ranking services. As one poster above said they do not get as much detailed eyes on info for the prospects.
Obviously there a a few guys on each team that are obvious top of the teams prospects but sometimes there rankings differ a good bit when it is compared to a specific team oriented prospect ranking like P2.
I suggest that for any of you who are subscribers to P2 check out John Dreker's (he used to frequent OBN alot in the past) article about Fangraph's list compared to P2's
And to continue this shameless free ad for P2 I strongly suggest that you subscribe to the site just for great up to date info on the entire Pirates minor league system. Also if you want detailed info about the top 50 prospects it is easy to go to the site and order the 2018 Prospect Guide which this year is in ebook form and will have several updates through out the year.
Disclaimer: I am in no way compensated by Pirates Prospects for this ad.

I saw Drekker's comments on him yesterday. One of his explanations for the lack of power was his approach at the plate. There have also been articles on that website that state the team tries to get their hitters to focus on offspeed stuff in the FSL, so they're basically sitting on offspeed pitches and trying to go the other way with fastballs. So to me, if his approach is leading to lack of power it would be related to their instructions.
Luplow, Kramer and Suiter all saw significant increase in their SLG% when they moved from the FSL to the EL. Craig's peripherals in the FSL were strong, if we're judging him for lack of power, I think we need to wait until this year to do so.

I think the analysis on Meadows is far away from reality. The constant lower body injuries mentioned in the write-up are hindering him and WILL reduce his speed in short order. It's not possible that 4 hammies and 2 obliques haven't effected him negatively, and the write-up still is projecting him in CF.
I believe he's got future corner OF stamped on his head, at this point. That changes his future value outlook considerably.
While his ceiling, I can agree, remains high. His floor is much lower now. I would be interested in seeing what he would return in a trade. I'd sell, assuming he still has #2 prospect value

Good point Orlando. You seem to echo what P2 thinks needs to happen with Craig. He needs to make some sort of adjustment to increase his power but it might come with the reduction in his on base skills. More K's I would think. The key is that Craig the 1B is blocked by Bell and should Craig figure it out power wise he could be some trade bait.
