Rodriguez can be the 4th outfielder too if there are no other trades (I still expect Harrison to be traded). Is he that journey man?
I have been reading about Luplow. I guess I am hoping he can be that impact rookie that this team never finds. It would help Huntington's draft resume too.
As of now I can see a bench of Freese (1B, 3B), Rodriguez (all inf and OF positions), Moroff (2B, SS), Diaz (C) and another outfielder who should be a LH bat as presently only Moroff who switch hits can bat LH off the bench. I can see a future for Luplow as a starter but he needs to play rather than sit on the bench. He has only 414 ABs above A-ball and that was a 1-year combination of AA, AAA and MLB. So unless he wins the LF job in ST, he should play everyday in AAA until needed.

LOL ... of course, you are against this. You are a prospect collector, just like our GM. Polanco can do what Yelich can? He is capable, but right now, there is no evidence he can. Polanco is streaky. Put up an awesome two weeks and then falls apart for a month. He isn't consistent. He is a disaster in the OF too.
Rodriguez as a 4th of? That is a big time pass too. You are all about the status quo, which isn't working.
Luplow? Pass. If you want to show you are trying and want to be competitive, you make a deal for Yelich. Thinking Polanco will be Christian Yelich or believe that Luplow can be an impact rookie is typical of Nuttings and NH's line of thinking. That is why this franchise is a dumpster now.
Polanco is a .252 career hitter. That seems far away from a .280 hitter. The only thing Polanco does better is steals bases.

Yelich would look better in left field than Polonco in my opinion. Not quite sure if Polonco is even a average right fielder.

I don't think much of Polanco. Bad OFer and not better than average hitter. And injury prone. But I don't see this FO trading him.

I am being a realist, something you say I never am. You think the Pirates will trade for Yelich after trading Cole and McCutchen?
In 2016, Polanco put up 22 HRs, 86 RBIs, and a .786 OPS. Yelich has never hit that many HRs and has a career .800 OPS. So yes, I think Polanco's bat can be identical to Yelich's.
Now, I am prospect collector? What does that even mean? I have been against Huntington's drafts for a while now.
Why do you think Luplow is so bad?
Why when the Pirates "try" that isn't good enough but it is for the Brewers? Why didn't the Brewers build on their 2011 season? The Pirates have more playoff appearances than the Brewers in the past 30 years, but now you are praising them for being part of a rumor for trying.
You told me how crazy I was for the Pirates to sign Moustakas. Yet, trading for Yelich is a move the Pirates typically make? You are all over the place lately. Sorry, I am being real.

I hope Polanco never plays LF. Probably only Osuna is a worse outfielder on defense. Did you hear if that was the plan, to play Polanco in LF?
I like keeping Marte in LF since it is so big and his arm can cut down runners from the corner. If someone like Yelich was brought in, I would hope they would put them in CF.

They tried Polanco in left last year and then switched him back to right field.

You overvalue prospects meaning you never want to make that trade involving sending one or two to obtain a good player.
I never said Yelich was realistic. I brought it up as an example of something management/ownership NEEDED to do to PROVE they cared. To PROVE they wanted to field a competitive and winning team. Their PR nightmare is a reality. They are TRYING TO SELL something that isn't there.
Polanco has had one break out year. He is far from that player. He isn't consistent; is a lousy defensive outfielder and is fragile. He is the quintessential example of an enigma. Yelich is a much better OF.
Yelich is fantasy, same with Moustakas. We know the deal here. No one of significance will ever be obtained in a trade or free agency here under this ownership/management tandem. But, if they want to show their commitment, these are the moves they need to make. Not bringing in the Drew Hutchinsons of the world.
I prefer bringing in a good OF that can do something instead of having to rely on a cheap outfielder as a rookie that isn't highly thought of. I like known commodities, not the unknown. Luplow as the starter is just another example of this franchise not caring.
Sure, the 2011 Brewers and our year coming off 98 wins are very similar. Both missed golden opportunities. HOWEVER, one franchise seems more committed than the other as far as TRYING. One is making a run at Darvish with an offer and is trying to improve its OF by making a reported offer for Yelich, while the other has not tried to bring in a significant player to help their cause. One is trying ... the other is looking to go cheap and not get better. Pretty simple.

I would not send Meadows for Yelich. Meadows has the potential to be Yelich or better. The team isn't ready for a Yelich type. They are rebuilding. Trades happened. It is not the time for that. I also have been saying to shop the minor league pitchers around. There are plenty of them. They could be swapped for a bat.
The Pirates aren't at the same stage as the Brewers. The Brewers should have done more. Their window is opening, but they have a bunch of older players. The Pirates are setting up to be in the same situation in about three years as the Brewers are in now.
I'd be pretty disappointed in the Brewers off season knowing their situation. They signed Gallardo, who used to be good as a Brewer, and Frieri, a short-lived ex Pirate. Aren't they the type of moves the Pirates make that get dragged through the mud? I will not praise the Brewers in an attempt to put down the Pirates.
I am excited to see some of these young players play. meadows might get a call up in 2018. Moran has been on the radar for a while now. I just started following Luplow. Is Polanco still young? He needs to break out more. And of course Bell.
