This would give us another window around 2020. Just no way the Pirates are going to be able to add the pieces to be serious contenders . We've been linked to Jamie Garcia while the competition is adding or looking to add real difference makers
I wouldn't blame Glasnow at all. He was 23 years old last year. To put that in perspective, Chance Adams, the Yankees top pitching prospect being discussed in a trade, is 23 with no major league experience. Glasnow was up at age 22 fro a few innings.
I think too much hype and hope was put on Glasnow by the fans and a little by the Pirates. No way would I give up on him as a ML pitcher. He has time to mature.
I do agree with you that they are in "no man's land", meaning they can go either way. They can add some pieces to a decent team or they can trade everyone and rebuild. With trade talks involving Cole, the rebuild looks like the direction.
Too much hype and hope by the fans and a little by the Pirates. Really? He was expected "by the Pirates" to step in and produce! C'mon do you even think about what you are typing?

yeah, the Pirates were counting on him. They were hoping Cole, Taillon and Glasnow would be a big 3 (probably all winning at least 15 games and being the ones to go to in the playoffs). Unfortunately it didn't happen in 2017. If Cole is dealt it means they don't expect to have a big 3 in 2018 either.

Glasnows hype is on the fans, and just a little on the Pirates!
Kim Jong un doesnt have better yes men around him than this pathetic baseball org has is Dogknot...
I just wonder if FINALLY the hyping of our prospects is starting to give people pause and have them asking themselves if...just maybe... The hype is part of the product being sold to fans? That it's intentional and that our guys flat out aren't very good?
once you start down that road, it leads to a realization that NH is indeed a terrible GM. (Our prospects haven't been traded away, they haven't developed and we've drafted poorly)

I certainly wasn't one who was into the hype. No way would I count on a 23 year old to carry a rotation, team. You can go back and read my posts too. Glasnow definitely wasn't hyped as Cole or Taillon. No way do I blame a 23 year old.

Hahahah. Who cares what you thought! NH must've thought Glasnow could step right in or was it he didn't cost them anything

Huntington is the biggest liar to some. The Pirates over hype or over project their players to some. But then Huntington is believed when it fits certain agendas?? Or I say it...ha ha. So funny to me. Can't have it both ways.
I don't think the Pirates hyped Glasnow like they did to other players. And no way would I put blame on a 23 year old.

I wouldn't say the Pirates over-hyped Glasnow. I actually agree with Dog on this one. He's still plenty young to develop into a legitimate MLB pitcher. Regardless, he was ranked highly as a prospect by every major national publication out there. If this was some grand conspiracy by Pirates ownership, then Jonathan Mayo, Buster Olney, MLB.com, Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, everyone was in on it.
Glasnow has been a disappointment thus far, but I actually have a lot of hope for him in 2018. But, that's beside the point. The Pirates need to tear the whole thing down and start over. However, I'm not sure that will do any good as long as Bob Nutting remains the majority owner. Put any GM in the front office. Put any manager on the bench. Give me the very best coaches MLB has to offer. This team still isn't going anywhere, because at the end of the day, the only thing that will matter to this ownership group is the bottom line.
I'm so fed up with this team...
