Hall of fame hockey announcer and unapologetic Pirate fan Doc Emrick announced his retirement.
I'll miss blatant inserting of the Pirates into almost every broadcast (even if a Pittsburgh team wasn't playing that day). I wonder if he'd be interested in more guest spots here to do his dream job.

One of my favorite parts of any game he was announcing, trying to figure out how he was going to segue a Pirates mention into the broadcast. I'll miss him for certain.

He went to one of the Pirate fantasy camps I attended and we ended up on the same team. He was our second baseman. Super nice guy. He had to leave a few days early though to announce the NHL all-Star game.

I regard Emrick as one of if not the best hockey announcer. I will greatly miss his calls during the hockey season and playoffs.
If he lives in the Burgh, the Pirates or Pens should definitely contact him to see if he would be interested in a part time color gig

Emrick lives in Michigan and I doubt he would be interested in traveling to do any color etc for any team. Perhaps he would go to Detroit when the Bucs are there to do an inning or two as both color and play-by-play for his beloved Bucs. I'm not holding my breath to see if he does something like that.
