Who is the #20 prospect for 2017?

Post by psuinpgh21 »

Jin-De Jhang wins #19. Will he be this year's Adam Frazier, who we put at #15 but nobody else had in their top 20? Still several highly ranked prospects (according to other sites) on our list, plus the addition of this year's Arizona Fall League phenom Eric Wood. May the guy I've been voting for in the last several rounds actually win this round? Stranger things have happened.

The top 19:

1 Austin Meadows 21 OF AAA

2 Tyler Glasnow 23 SP AAA/MLB

3 Josh Bell 24 1B/OF AAA/MLB

4 Mitch Keller 20 SP A-

5 Kevin Newman 23 SS AA

6 Ke'Bryan Hayes 19 3b A-

7 Nick Kingham 25 SP AAA

8 Cole Tucker 20 SS A+

9 Taylor Hearn 22 SP A-

10 Will Craig 22 3B A-

11 Steven Brault 24 SP MLB

12 Elias Diaz 26 C AAA

13 Alen Hanson 24 AAA

14 Gage Hinsz, 20 SP A-

15 Yeudy Garcia 24 SP A+

16 Edgar Santana 25 RP AAA

17 Clay Holmes 23 SP AA

18 Braeden Ogle 19 SP R

19 Jin-De Jhang 23 C AA

Who should we add for #21? One of the guys in camp (Dickson, Eppler, LaKind, Weiss), a former high draft pick (Connor Joe, Mathison), a defensive wiz SS (Alemais, Adrian Valerio, Gift Ngoepe), an under-the-radar guy (Pablo Reyes, Brandon Waddell), guys from last year's rankings (Montana DuRupau, Carlos Munoz, Jordan Luplow)? Of course some guys are in many of these categories. Just want to keep the interest up. I'm going to 40 if I'm the only one voting....

And does anyone consider Danny Ortiz a prospect? He's never played in the majors, is 26 years old, but has as good a chance of making the team out of spring training as anyone already in camp as the extra bench player.

I'd say Luplow. He had an uninspiring 2016, but the FSL is not an offensive friendly league and he played a full season there.

I would consider Alemaes or Ngoepe. With the infield situation as it is, I could see one being pressed into service this season.

The FSL got others players we talked about last year as well -- Suchy and Suiter. Luplow would be the first choice of those three. Hopefully Altoona is kinder to all of them.

The situation would have to be pretty dire to get a guy who spent most of last year in rookie ball (Alemais) all the way up. Rumor was Gift was coming up last September until he and Dovydas got in trouble. I saw Alemais play a couple of times last year and he's got a good glove, not much of a bat. But thanks for the suggestion.
