I like Reyes. I know he was terrible last year but he hit well in AAA and is very versatile. I would have held onto him to see how he does this year, at least in AAA. Makes litte sense to me that they re-signed Jake Elmore, I assume for AAA depth, and DFA Reyes who seems to be a better player.

He would not have been my first choice, maybe they think he can make it through waivers or else they just don't value him much.

I wonder if the signing of Heredia means that they are getting closer to trading Marte. I will be surprised if he is on the team when they begin ST next month.

I just cannot imagine this team breaking camp with the same players that finished the 2019 season. In my opinion they need a catcher, a veteran pitcher or two, and at least another bat off the bench, preferably a fourth outfielder.
two starters for the rotation and a good reliever. We don't have one of those.

Ditching the Lithuanian would have made better sense.

Right now there is HUGE hole at catcher, and a mere "crater" at starting pitcher. That doesn't mean we don't have other needs it's just that these look like the most obvious.
Yes, I know we don't know what a Marte or Frazier trade could bring but, geez, we're getting closer now to pitchers and catchers reporting.

Stallings was better than people expect/give credit for (1.5 WAR last year) but who knows if he can keep that up. He also seems to have a good baseball mind and might be a sort of coach on the field. If there were only one pick-up, for me it would be SP over catcher.

Not only does it make no sense, with a plethora of fungible right-handed relievers we could DFA, but it deprives us of a useful 26th man. Maybe I'm stuck in 2018, but Pablo has defensive skills and hits enough to belong in MLB. :-[
