Over the years theories have been offered that participation in the All Star game Home Run Derby can negatively impact a player's swing and production in the second half of the season. Josh Bell maybe the perfect example.
Prior to the HR contest, Bell hit 27 homers, and hit .302 with a 1.024 OPS. Since the break, he has hit 0 HR, is batting .188 with a .578 OPS. Bell might benefit from a few days off and some hard work in the film room and batting cage.
