Thomas Tull relocates to Pittsburgh, PA area

Read yesterday in the Tribune that Thomas Tull, minority owner of the Steelers, has bought a farm in Washington County, PA and is moving to the Pittsburgh, PA area. I know there was a rumor after the MLB season that Tull might look to purchase the Pirates. And I know "McScrooge" Nutting told the media that he has no intention of selling the Pirates. I am praying for higher intervention as this club is never, never going to be a winner under this collection of penny pinching, budget focused bean counters. Negative vibe...Yep, with the offseason we are experiencing and the lack of direction for the 2018 season. I have been a Pirates fan for over 57 years and this has to be the most uneventful offseason in a while...Dang, I am hoping for Nutting to cave after he sees ticket sales not inching up and sell the club to someone Tull, Michael Keaton, etch...who wants to win a championship! Bring some dignity, honor and pride back to this franchise! Beat'em Bucs

Maybe Tull will add a Batman light to his rooftop and turn the Bat Signal on... so Nutting can see there is still hope from the fan faithful....Something has got to give with this franchise. We are kept in the dark about any and all moves, they expect to sell tickets with this kind of excitement??? I am eagerly searching 8-)the internet for any information on our Beloved Bucs daily...

People want it to be significant, but it probably isn't. They'd like Tull to buy the team and spend more money than Nutting, but no one really knows what he would do even if he did buy the team.

There was an article back in October that Tull said he is not trying to buy the team. There was an article in December that Nutting was not selling the team.

Tull moving here is great for the area and Tulco being headquartered here, but does this really have anything to do with the Pirates?

Still 2 1/2 months to make a splash, but they sure aren’t bringing in any FAs. A trade, maybe. But if nothing happens I don’t know how any Pirate Fan can have any hope. If you don’t have hope you start to die.

I’m guessing this is one of those cases where we’re actually in a “significant opportunity to do nothing.” “Bazaar” is an understatement.

I wonder where Nutting fits in with the Pittsburgh super-wealthy? Anyway, with Mr Tull moving to Pittsburgh, another source of “bailing the fans out” will be ever present. Something has to give eventually - Mr Tull could well be a piece of the puzzle.

I wouldn't be surprised if the closest Tull comes to owning a baseball team is his sponsorship of the 2016 World Champion Maine Endwell (his old school) Little League team.
