Was this a new, off season injury? If not, why wait 2 months after the season ended to address it?

They are reporting that it will be 6 weeks for his recovery. Spring Training is at least 10 or 11 weeks away so he should be ready when pitchers and catchers report.

I just read that he was injured during an off season workout.
