#2 won't happen especially after what the new ownership did in Miami. We might not like the transactions but the Pirates did nothing wrong. They do spend their revenue money on other things. Even if you just look at payroll, they are rarely the lowest and they made the playoffs three out of the last five years.
When was the last time the Commissioner forced an owner out? Marge Schott in 1999?

Seems wishful thinking. The only explanations as to why MLB would come down on Miami and not Pittsburgh in the past (if they were both doing the same wrong) involve black helicopters and lizard people and grassy knolls.

How about making Nutting Commissioner of baseball. That got Bud the Slug out of Milwaukee.

Well, that's damning with feint praise. Hey, they aren't the lowest in payroll! Only one of the lowest. Yippee! And 3 out of 5 sounds pretty good. As long as we don't also note that it's 3 out of 25 and that after making strides for 3 years they quickly resumed their losing ways. Next year we can say it's 3 out of 6. Then 3 out of 7, etc. As long as we can say 3 out of something and there's at least 1 team with a lower payroll, we've got nothing to complain about.

Point being the average fan just looks at payroll. There are other ways to spend the revenue sharing and the Pirates are doing that. And 3 out of 5 is good, it can get very bad and lose its luster if things get worse for sure. No way is it that bad to remove an owner.

Seeing how we rarely hear factual rumors about the Pirates since they are usually tight lipped, the new MLBTR post says Yanks and Bucs are talking Frazier and a young pitcher. With this rumor, I'd say one of the rumor mill is perhaps the Yanks trying to put pressure on them to get a deal done. I for one don't care what direction they go, I just want one to be picked. If they trade Cole, they gotta tear it down unless they get someone back that can come close to his production.

You are right, if Cole goes, no reason to keep Cutch. NH needs to pick a lane and that lane needed to be chosen before the winter meetings. Not knowing which plan is the right way is on him.
People vary about how much Cole is worth. I'm one of his biggest critics. Seriously think he would meltdown in NY ... Jeff Weaver style. Others think he is worth Sonny Gray return. Despite my feelings, he is our biggest trade chip and NH better maximize it. Frazier and Adams are the two names that should come back. I wouldn't be opposed to Frazier and Andujar, even though he might be an answer at 3B for the Yanks. Florial is an interesting prospect. However, I'm preparing myself that if Cole is dealt, we don't get the return we should. One of those names will be coming back along with B+ talents.
They keep saying they want to add another starter. They have a very good three right off the bat. I'm not sure Cashman is going to give up the farm for a guy that most likely slots into spot 4 in the rotation (yes, Dog, I'm a proponent of starter labels and he is a 4 for the Yanks without question).

You have a bunch of double talk here:
Let me paraphrase for you: Cole stinks, but Huntington better get a great return for him. So, if Huntington doesn't get a great return or maximize you will be down on Huntington, right?
Yes, your labeling of pitchers doesn't make sense. You think Cole is worth a #4 return from the Yankees (you laughed at Frazier earlier until someone else agreed with me... ha ha). Does that mean Cole is worth the Padres #1 prospect or the Reds #1 prospect if he went there since he would be their top pitcher?

I don't agree that trading Cole should signal a total rebuild. His last 2 years have not been good. I know there were injury issues in 2016 but in 2017 he gave up 31 HRs and his ERA was worse than Williams and Nova and not much better than Kuhl or Taillon. If the younger pitchers continue to progress and Cole stays the same or gets worse, he could be their 4th or 5th best starter. I don't see trading him as all that bad. Hopefully, his name recognition and previous effectiveness (that ended in 2015) will bring a better return than he's probably worth. If they can get a decent return for him while the other pitchers are as good or better, than it's a win-win.
