. I’d love to see their run differential over the past month.
They're 93-187 in August. 3-22 record.

Just a little more effort….they could have definitely gone 0-25.

The last couple day's results have put the Pirates back in a virtual tie for the worst expected record:
ESPN:
Orioles 42-86
Pirates 43-87
D-backs 48-83
Rangers 47-82
BB-Ref:
Orioles 44-84
Pirates 45-85
D-backs 49-82
Rangers 48-81
Whatever internal metrics the Pirates are using, this is probably driving them crazy.

I just looked at the remaining schedules for the Orioles, and DBacks and they both play several more games against teams fighting for the postseason. At this time, it looks like the Pirates and Texas are fighting for third or fourth choice in next year’s draft.

It's starting to look as though the Pirates will be picking fourth. For the people looking for progress, this is irrefutable proof they are getting better. Last year they were in last place; now there are three teams worse than they are. Say what you like, leapfrogging ten percent of the league is an impressive improvement.

Ha, I take it as proof of Pirate luck, where the years we are the worst team there isn't that killer #1 talent out there.

I agree. If there were that clearcut number one, Borris would have dallied till the last day and then decided to have the guy go independent for a year and try the draft again next year. This way we got a number of solid (potential) players.

Texas lost their fourth game in a row last night, and with the Pirates playing some better baseball lately it is looking more like the Pirates will pick #4 in the 2022 Draft.

But the Rangers play some of the worse teams in baseball the rest of the way including four against the O’s and three against the A’s.
If the Phillies and Reds are still playing for a WC, #3 is still in play.
