5-1 Braves now. Bad start to a series against a team the Pirates really need to beat.

There's a lot of things hurting the Pirates right now, but a big one is they rarely win games that are started by the No. 1 starter.

If the Pirates could count on getting a W every fifth day when Cole starts, and then play .500 ball in all other starts, they'd be pretty good.

Unfortunately, we've lost the large majority of Cole's starts ... sometimes because he's not good and sometimes because the offense is terrible.

hard to believe Cole getting hammered like he did tonight.

How did he look? Was he just missing spots and having the ball go down the middle?

Well, there's talk of trading him, so it's about that time in the season when the big stud we're selling comes down with elbow or shoulder problems. Then we can all stroke out about how someone traded three ML-ready Mickey Mantles and a couple Randy Johnsons for a similar, but lesser, player. It's traditional.

It's funny how the Pirates go to Atlanta and so many people think the Pirates need to rack up some wins against the lowly Braves.

But the Braves are thinking the same thing ... "The lowly Pirates are coming to town and we need to pick up some wins."

And for the record the Braves have a better record.

Pirates will be lucky to get 2 of 4.

Cole had another breakdown. Every single hit he threw his hands up or put his head down acting like "what else will go wrong".

The Harrison error was the game. Plenty of chances to score and of course Cole got no help.

The Cardinals had to pay Atlanta to take Adams.  Not sure how good Adams is in the outfield, but I would take him on the Pirates bench.  But this was no block-buster deal by any means.

The Pirates can really move up in the standings this week with the Reds and Cardinals playing some better teams.

Yeah but you'd think we would be able to find a Matt Adams-esque outfielder on someone's roster by now.

That's whats so frustrating about the BMTIB. The Braves found a surplus player on another team that could be useful. Adams was barely playing for St.L. He had started only 5 games in LF and 2 games at 1B. He had little use to St.L. but could be useful filling the gap left by Freeman in Atl.

The Pirates lost TWO key players. It's hard to believe there is no player on any other team's bench who could be useful to the Pirates who not only have a serious lack of hitting but don't even have 3 legit outfielders on the roster.

The Pirates should have traded for someone. I hate the fact that their back up plan for Kang was very late and was awful (Gosselin).

There had to be an "Adams" out there. I wonder if Adams was asked about but inter-division trade was turned down?
