He’s a .155 career hitter.
He should fit perfectly with our other 6 under .200 hitters in our starting lineup

.155? Maybe they got him to be a hitting coach for Polanco. It would be great if Polanco could get his BA up that high.

I keep wondering with these recent waiver claims is there going to be several current players leaving the team on or before July 31st. Roster space is going to be needed for these recent acquisitions.

Yep
We must create roster space for these below Mendoza line hitters and pitchers with ERA’s of over 5

BC and company must be done with their evaluations and have figured out who is expendable.

Not for nothing, but I saw Alford hit a home run at Bradenton in ST last year. He looked like a ballplayer.

I think they believe a change of scenery will return him to when he was a top prospect in the Blue Jays organization.

I have read a couple articles about Alford, and he appears to be a very confident young man. Hopefully the current FO can bring out the anticipated talent that scouts saw when he was drafted. It would be special if he turned into a similar player which the Bucs acquired in the late 1970s by the name of Bill Robinson.

It has only been a small sample, but Alford has been impressive. I would hope that the Pirates would let him start many of the remaining games this season in centerfield to see if he has a future with them. If they want to play Cole Tucker let him start in right field, and keep Alford in centerfield.
