What is the story on Kela?
Was very good last year.
Had a rocky spring training.
Has been “injured” most of the year.
Was suspended for 2 games by the Bucs.
Won’t talk to the press.
If we trade Vazquez; Kela has the stuff to be a closer.
Don’t know much about him and what makes him tick.
His he someone that would be a core player or a malcontent?

He probably could close if Vázquez was traded, but I am guessing he may also be moved. I am thinking if he is traded he should bring back a player or players who are better than just fringe players.

Not sure they will be looking for actual players in return, but prospects. I don't think we get much.

After his quotes last night I can't imagine he's endearing himself to anybody

I have not been real excited about some of Kela’s recent actions, but let’s assume the Bucs receive a favorable return for Vázquez this offseason , and trade him. In 2020 Kela could close, followed by Crick, Rodriguez, Santana, Burdi possibly Feliz, and a couple others. That is a decent bullpen group.

Kela is another trade possibility this off-season.
Can anyone clarify what the trade situation is now? In years gone by you could still trade after the trade deadline, it was just that the players had to clear wavers and weren't eligible for post-season play. Is that still the case, or are trades off altogether until after the World Series?

No trades after 7/31. After that date players can still be waived and claimed but will not be eligible for a post season roster if obtained after 8/31.

I know I shouldn't care any more, but exactly why did Kela agree to start serving his suspension at the same time as Rodriguez went on paternity leave. Couldn't he have waited out the weekend and not left the Pirates more short-handed in the pen than they already are?
