ESPN Poll: Greatest RH batter of all time
ESPN was running a poll (I think it ended yesterday).
Who is the greatest right-handed batter of all time?
I don't know who won, but thought I would ask the board.

As much as I hate the Cards, Pujols was a machine from 2001-2010 hitting over .300, 30+ hrs and driving in 100+ runs. His average has gone down the last 6 years but during those 10, he may have the best 10 year run ever. His OPS was only under 1.000 in two of those years.

In my opinion Willie Mays.

I am surprised how some of these guys never won an MVP or even multiple MVPs.
I voted for Cabrera.

Career OPS+, per Baseball-Reference.com:
1. Ruth (LH) 206
2. Williams (LH) 190
3. Bonds (LH) 182
4. Gehrig (LH) 179
5. ROGERS HORNSBY 175
You can argue about the best right-handed hitter, but Hornsby's absence from the list is one of the worse omissions you could make from one of these polls.
Josh Gibson, too. If you ask for the greatest of all-time, you have to be willing to look at all leagues.

I saw them all but Foxx play. Unfortunately they left out 2 guys who deserve to be on the list more so than some of the others. Those 2 being Roberto Clemente and Ernie "Mr Cub" Banks.
I went with Aaron but it was a close decision between "Hammerin'" Hank and the "Say Hey!" Kid Mays. These four guys were a pleasure to watch and not just at the plate.

It seems like there is a major skew to the modern era.
Hank Greensburg and Rogers Hornsby should be ahead of some of those. What about Honus Wagner. No power in those days (which hurts the OPS numbers). One of the best average hitters in the history of the game.

Any kind of poll or best-of seems to be skewed to the time the prerson writing the list remembers in their lifetime.

Hornsby was a great hitter, no doubt. But he doesn't have 3,000 hits and barely has 300 HRs. he played 23 seasons too. I would rank him below the guys on the list.
I am sure Trout was on the list for fun. Only six seasons in, he can't be an all time great just yet in my opinion. He could end up the best of all time, but hard to say at this point in his career.
