Not sure why Ngoepe was such a poor hitter in the minors. Seems to have a quick bat and hits the ball hard. And very sure-handed with the glove. He needs to stay. Gosselin? Not so much.

He looks terrible on a good breaking ball.

But Jaso is right on Cervelli's heels because he thought there were already 2 outs. So he's doubled off 2B before Cervelli scores. Then bases loaded, no outs in the 6th. Naturally, they don't score. Hurdle needs to get in guys' faces on these absurd mental mistakes.

both those should be fineable offenses.  Are these also cases of not listening to coaches (or coach forgetting to remind Jaso on number of outs).

That's exactly right.  At this point, start fining.  I hope there's a few fans behind the home dugout giving these guys an earful when they change innings.   Lord knows they aren't getting chewed by the coaches because this little league nonsense keeps happening

How many millions do these clowns need to make before they run bases as effectively as 12 year olds?

* Worst baserunning team ... EVER.

* Worst bases loaded / no out team ... EVER.

* Offense is generally terrible

* HOW IN THE WORLD IS THIS TEAM 14-16? It feels more like a 9-21 kind of team.

* I've said it multiple times already and I'll keep saying it ... Gift needs to be in the lineup regularly, that's all there is to it.

* With that said, I'm certain we'll see Gooselin tomorrow.

Polanco had a double and knocked in the first run. The pitchers had one hit tonight too.

Yeah, it was bases loaded, no outs and the #3 and #4 batters coming up. But since both are batting under .230 no one really expected them to get a hit.

I knew we were done when Cole was held up at 3rd. Like Cutch wasn't going to hit a perfect DP ball to the left side ?

I second the sentiment, but that stuff isn't going to work. Fining guys or public shaming isn't the answer. These are highly paid professional athletes. Fining doesn't hurt them. Public shaming or yelling doesn't either. This isn't little league or high school baseball. These guys know the mistakes they've made. I don't know what the answer is, but those seem like solutions for amateur baseball. These guys get paid a lot of money. They need to eliminate these sorts of mistakes.

I was hoping that both Cervelli and Jaso would be removed from the game immediately. It was only the 2nd inning and it would have depleted the bench but in the long run it might be worth it to send a message to them and everyone else that such nonsense is unacceptable and won't be tolerated. They currently have 3 catchers. And Jaso is a waste anyway. I was disappointed that Hurdle left them in the game. But then I've never been impressed by Hurdle.

Not sure about the no out part, but their bases loaded slash line split is 184/255/247.

That's pretty bad.

What is being done, if anything, isn't working.   If they want to run bases like amateurs I think they should be treated like amateurs.

Some players care alot about fans opinion of them.  AJ Burnett, for instance, came back here on a discount, in no small part, because he was adored by fans and loved it here.

Fans dropping the kind of money they do to see major league baseball should feel free to give these guys an earful when they don't care enough about their craft to regularly pay attention to how many outs their are.   Or pick up their base coaches.  Or lay a bunt down 8 out of 10 times. If fining them or booing them or coaches chewing them doesn't work, well then we're no worse off. These guys are regularly playing terrible fundamental baseball.
