The guy the Pirates traded for also hit a HR and is playing RF.

I normally agree with 26% of Dogs posts! This is one of them.

Was Clint trying to show faith in Cole? Or was it lack of faith in bullpen?

Or did he have a brain cramp?

I vote for brain cramp.

He has had about 100 so far this season.

Putting the individual before the team. If Cole gets out of that, look at that performance was probably the thought process. It was risky. It didn't pay off.

Now, they need to have a comeback of their own.

I'll all but guarantee the Pirates find a way to blow this.

As for Hurdle, danged if you do, danged if you don't. Personally, I thought it was the wrong decision. But can understand why he made it.

I'm always in favor of leaving the starter in until he gets into trouble. But after 3 hits, a walk, a run, the bases loaded, only 1 out (not to mention 112 pitches) there was no reason to let him stay any longer.

that is my issue, after three guys get on you have to take him out. If lead was 5 or 6 runs he could stay in for another batter or two. There is just no way that Cole should have been in this game long enough to give up 5 runs in the 7th inning.

Now we will probably read in paper tomorrow about 2 or 3 relievers being unavailable (which shouldn't be the case either a roster move should have been made if that was an issue).

No lefty was up in the bullpen either. Remember when teams used to have a righty and lefty warming up so the opposing manager couldn't get their favored match up?
