That was entertaining. But McClendon is the worst manager I've ever seen in my life.

I assume this is the taking the base video. I didn't open it, but it is the only thing he is known for.

I agree Lloyd was terrible as Bucs skipper. He might have been a good utility player for Jimmy Leyland, but he was a terrible manager for the Bucs. And I was not embarrassed by his fisticuffs with the Redbirds and calling Tony LaRussa names. LaRussa was so full of himself as a manager of the Cards. I know it was not very mature of Legendary Lloyd, but I grew so tired of Tony L, I would have wanted to punch him too. Lloyd was a very poor manager of a group of guys who had heart and some ability, but not enough talent to go very far. Tough years to be a Pirates Fan during Legendary Lloyd's time as a manager... Beat'em Bucs

I saw that yesterday. I agree Lloyd was a bad manager who tended to overthink his ability to change the game. However, he will have a warm place in my heart because LaRussa would expect every call when the lauded Cardinals would play the lowly pirates. Four pirates players would get hit in a series and one cardinal gets hit and TL would go off about teams like the pirates impacting the pennant race. I think TL is my most hated person in baseball ever.

He is why I still do not like the Cardinals and love seeing them lose.

I liked Lloyd as a player. But he seemed to make moves as a manager only because he had seen other managers make them even if it didn't make sense for his team or that situation. And maybe his time as a utility player clouded his judgment on how to use his players. He seemed to always want the reserves to play. Best example is the beginning of the 2001 season when Jack Wilson was going to play SS as a rookie and Pat Meares was going to switch from SS to 2B. They needed to get used to each other at those positions. Instead, LLoyd opened the season like this:
Game 2B SS
1 Meares Jack Wilson
2 Enrique Wilson Jack Wilson
3 Enrique Wilson Nunez
4 Meares Jack Wilson
5 Meares Jack Wilson
6 Meares Enrique Wilson
7 Meares Jack Wilson
8 Wehner Jack Wilson
9 Meares Jack Wilson
10 Meares Jack Wilson
11 Meares Nunez
12 Enrique Wilson Nunez
13 Meares Jack Wilson
14 Meares Jack Wilson
15 Enrique Wilson Nunez
16 Meares Jack Wilson
His favorite pinch hitter was Nunez who was a slick glove but couldn't hit. So Nunez was usually as an automatic out as a PHer and was then unavailable for late inning defense. Lloyd wanted to have a running team in 2001 but didn't have the personnel for it. So they ran anyway and compounded the NL's worst team OBP with the NL's highest caught stealing total. What a circus.

He was a rah-rah manager for a bunch of guys who wanted him as their manager and fought to keep him as their manager when Lamont was fired. That meant he had no control of the clubhouse. The players liked him and they did what they wanted.
He is my least favorite manager of all time. The best thing he ever did was take that base.

I only wish that when he walked off with that base, he'd kept on walking.
