Don't know why to even bother except this game is off to a. Exceptional start: top of the 2nd the Cardinals already have 2 HRs and a 5-1 lead.

This team is spiraling out of control and pointed straight down.

And Williams bunts into a double play. Amazing how often our pitchers fail to execute on the bunt. Just another area of weak fundamentals.

Williams gives up another HR. Batting practice in process.

And Williams exits with 3+ innings and 8 runs.

I see nothing to be encouraged about with this team. J think we can say officially - this team is no longer competing.

This will be six losses in a row. I think the Bucs have packed it in. This losing streak could get very ugly with the Dodgers arriving this coming week.

Well, I'm almost happy now, or a better word is probably relieved, because no I don't have to worry about and stress out over the Pirates every night.

The meaningful portion of the season is now over and the games no longer matter. Just playing out the string from this point forward.

The Pirates kept it interesting, in spite of themselves, for 4 1/2 months. The final six weeks will be ugly as this team has clearly mailed it in.

They bottomed out at 37-46.

Then they won 12 of 14 and eventually put together a 21-12 streak.

They reached .500 at 48-48 and 50-50. They got over .500 once ... at 49-48. Their final taste of .500 was 58-58. When they beat Toronto last Friday night to reach 58-58 I thought this team really had a chance to make a run.

They haven't won since.

The GM packed it in during the trade deadline and the offseason. Ownership mailed it in a while ago.

Love Diaz making that 2nd out at 3rd base when we had something going at 11-8 and one out. Simply inexcusable for that to happen. Nice to see Clint taking guys out during this rally too like JHay and pretty much giving up in games you desperately need to run to keep your season alive.
