Edit: I want to walk this back a bit. They gave Clint Barmes 2 years, $10 million going into the 2012 season. Similar situation to the Martin signing - Ronny Cedeno hadn't been good, and no one at Indy was ready. They also gave 2 years to Ramon Vazquez going into 2009.Babe Adams wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 4:31 am
I don't think Huntington signed anyone multi-year until Russell Martin in the 2012-13 offseason, after Huntington had been in place for five full seasons. They had a pretty good nucleus together by then, but no internal options at catcher - Rod Barajas and Michael McKenry had caught literally every inning in 2012.

I forgot we traded for Spencer Horowitz. That might be a good addition. I liked Ortiz but a first baseman, which we haven’t seen since….Who….Bob Robertson???

Ronny Cedeno, in contention for my winner of the "Most Despised Pirate" award.Babe Adams wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 1:32 amEdit: I want to walk this back a bit. I would put Jogging George as my Most Despised Pirate. Even Ray Quinones would be above Cedeno on my list.
