Amen. I do think they deserve credit for their humanitarian efforts. But charity isn't their business. Baseball is, and winning baseball games is the primary goal. If they tried to do that with the same intent as they do charity work, we'd have the greatest franchise in all of sports.Bobster wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 2:19 am Pirates management knew the answers to those questions before they even asked them. Does anyone believe that the responses will change how the team is operated? This is strictly a PR move. It gives the illusion that team management cares about what the fans think. But nothing could be further from the truth based on their actions.

I agree their charity work is top notch. It is too bad they don’t put the same effort into their baseball operations.Doc wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 2:42 pmAmen. The Pirates front office gambled that Elvis Alvarado would not be claimed when they acquired Frazier and had to put him on the 40 man roster. They lost that gamble as the A’s claimed Alvarado.
Alvarado was an intriguing pick up as a possible bullpen piece.
Was one year of Frazier ( yet another middle infielder) worth losing a potential upside pitcher who was only 26?

And Alika Williams continues to remain on the roster. This confuses me even more than the reason why people like soccer.JollyRoger8 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 5:20 pm The Pirates front office gambled that Elvis Alvarado would not be claimed when they acquired Frazier and had to put him on the 40 man roster. Keeping Williams has baffled me for two seasons now. Sure he is a good fielder, but he cannot hit. He is a wasted roster spot in my opinion.Doc wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 5:42 pmAnd Alika Williams continues to remain on the roster. With so many infielders on the roster, and lately there has not been any rumors about the Pirates signing a free agent outfielder I wonder if they are working on a trade. The Pirates have a surplus of middle infielders, as well as players who can play third base, and I wonder what their plans are for all of them. Could one or more be packaged in a trade?

The Pirates like collecting middle infielders with "presence" ever since the previous regime took command. Preferably guys with facial hair commonly found in 80's adult films.fjk090852-7 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 7:42 pm With so many infielders on the roster, and lately there has not been any rumors about the Pirates signing a free agent outfielder I wonder if they are working on a trade.
